The Town ‘n Kountry Kids Red Crew 4-H Club met on Jan. 29, at the Woonsocket Community Center. Prior to the meeting, club members wrote letters to their elderly friends.
The meeting was called to order by President Rex Schlicht. The Flag pledge was led by Devyn Brooks and the 4-H pledge was led by Shaun Snedeker. Junior President Emily Ohlrogge led roll call with 11 members answering the question “How I Show the Character Trait Responsibility.”
The secretary’s report was read by Junior Secretary Acaiya Schultz and approved as read. The treasurer’s report was presented by Rex and approved as read.
Spens Schlicht read a thank you received from Della Amdahl for setting barrels. Bailey Feistner gave a report on the bowling party. Dilyn Brooks read a thank you received in response to the “notes of cheer” and Spens read a thank you from one of the club’s elderly friends. Acaiya reported on the elderly friend letters. Wyatt Feistner reported on the 50/50 fundraiser that the club sponsored at a basketball game, with the proceeds going to the American Legion Post #29.
Under old business, the club talked about upcoming citizenship activities. 4-H Calendars are here, and the club’s 4-H t-shirts were handed out.
Under new business, fruit sales have begun. The club discussed the goal of selling a minimum of five boxes per 4-H member, up to ten boxes per 4-H family. They also handed out 4-H premium money.
Leader Paula Linke talked about plans for the 4-H grounds improvements, and encouraged members to set their goals for the year using a goal setting worksheet. She reviewed requirements for award applications and encouraged members to get their public presentations done early.
The club discussed a date to go ice skating and a date to go to Skyzone.
Following the meeting, Bailey presented an illustrated talk on Baby Doll Sheep. Emily gave a talk about winter safety kits for one’s vehicle. Isaiah Schultz did a demonstration on making grape salad.
Club members enjoyed a light supper provided by the Snedeker family.
Recreation officer Spens led club members in a fun balloon relay race game.
Character officers Shaun Snedeker and Wyatt Feistner conducted a character activity to help club members understand the reason for difference of opinions of judges, and to realize why it is important to provide information through interview judging and exhibit forms during the judging process.
