Mariah Jost takes take-out trays through the serving line to be delivered to Love Feast patrons in their homes, while Taryn Ziebart, Megan Linke and Brooklyn Swenson help serve.

On Thursday, Dec. 7, six members of St. Wilfrid’s Catholic Confirmation class joined several volunteers to help serve the meal for Love Feast at the First United Methodist Church in Mitchell. This was part of a community service project the entire class has been working on since their fundraiser in November, where half of the money they raised was donated to Love Feast.
The Love Feast program was created to help feed the hungry and needy in the town of Mitchell and the surrounding area. There are no income guidelines and anyone is welcome. They serve supper two Thursdays a month, and all meals are served in the basement of the First United Methodist Church.

Layton and Lawson Zoss happily inform Santa of what they want for Christmas after the Sanborn Central Christmas concert.

Christmas cheer filled the Sanborn Central gym last Tuesday night, Dec. 5, as the fifth through 12th grade bands and pre-K through 12th grade choir students performed Christmas music for a gym full of family and community members.
The band students performed first with the fifth grade and then the sixth through seventh grade band each played one song. The high school band ended the band portion with three familiar Christmas tunes.
The choir’s part of the concert was broken into three sections with each group singing two songs apiece. They started with the seventh through 12th grade choir, followed by the preK through first grades, and ended with the second through sixth grades. A senior member of the high school choir introduced each song sung by one of the groups.
At the end of the evening, Santa made a visit to hand out candy and talk to the kids who wanted a chance to tell him their Christmas wishes.
The choir instructor is Jennifer Easton, and the band director is Jacque Bratcher.
