The Town ‘N Kountry Kids Red Crew 4-H Club met on Dec. 10 at the Spirit of Faith Church in Woonsocket.
Prior to the meeting, they had demonstrations on making Christmas tree ornaments for the Courthouse tree. Lane and Ty Burkel gave a demonstration on making a memory ring ornament. Blake Larson did a demonstration on making a wooden stencil ornament, and Shiloh Senska demonstrated how to make a Western themed ornament. Then, the 4-H members each made a set of the ornaments.
4-H members also made up Christmas goodie trays to deliver to our elderly friends.
The meeting was called to order by President Nathan Linke. The flag pledge was led by Alex Anderson and the 4-H pledge was led by Luke Larson. Roll call was led by Vice President Xavier Baysinger with the question, “What is your favorite thing about Christmas?” which was answered by 29 members. The club welcomed new member Jessalynn Freeborn.
The secretary’s report was read by Secretary Spens Schlicht and approved as read. The treasurer’s report was given by Junior Treasurer Sutton Senska. The club received payment for barrel setting, and approved to pay bills for American Education Week and to purchase two new tables to donate to the Community Center. It was moved by Lane Burkel, seconded by Henry Hunter, to approve the treasurer’s report and pay bills.
Reports were given by Evan Ohlrogge on Recognition Event, Shiloh Senska about Shooting Sports safety training, and Logan Potrament on celebrating American Education Week. The teachers really appreciated the gifts.
The club discussed ordering more club 4-H shirts. A plan for the next community service activity, such as doing something at the nursing home, is needed.
Nathan handed out the premium money earned from Achievement Days and other county exhibits. Hope Baysinger was the leading earner. Brooklyn Swenson and Emily Ohlrogge passed out the participation certificates. We discussed plans for shooting sports and safety training.
As a member of the State 4-H Youth Council, Nathan talked about their statewide community service project, which is making tie blankets to donate. Club members will decide at the next meeting how they are going to participate.
The club discussed options for a fun activity for the group to do. Suggestions were bowling, rock climbing, Sky Zone and ice skating. A vote was held. Sky Zone and bowling were the top two choices. They will determine dates for scheduling the fun activities and the next meeting via e-mail.
Members wrote notes and signed Christmas cards for their elderly friends.
Following the meeting, 4-H members delivered the cards and goodie trays to our elderly friends around Woonsocket. Members also decorated a Christmas tree at the Courthouse using the ornaments they had made.
