The “Spring Fling Crossing Borders 2017 Shop Hop” was held April 29-May 6. It included the following quilt shops: “Always Your Design” in Dell Rapids, “Shanty Stitchers” in Beresford, the “Dutch Rose Quilt Shop” in Sioux Falls, “Dakota Quilt Shop” in Watertown, “Fabrics Plus” in Marshall, Minn., “Prairie Quilting” in Windom, Minn., “Crafty Corner” in Worthington, Minn., “Old Alley Quilt Shop” in Sherburn, Minn., and “The Sewing Basket” in Luverne, Minn.
Evelyn Mitzel, Sandy McNutt of Huron, and Sue Larson visited – and shopped – all nine shops on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 2-3, staying overnight in Marshall, Minn. After shopping at the Dutch Rose Quilt Shop in Sioux Falls, they had their photo taken with snowballs they’d made from the remaining snow which fell on May 1.
A free table runner pattern and four two and one-half inch strips of fabric were free for each shopper at all nine shops. If all nine shops were visited, the participant received a free quilt pattern, which could be made from the free strips of fabric. One lucky winner will receive a Husqvarna Viking Opal 690 sewing machine valued at $1,299.00.
The odometer on the car read 696 miles traveled when the girls returned home, the car full of fabric and their purses a bit lighter – all for the love of quilting!
