This year’s Blackhawk wrestling team has added Wolsey-Wessington to the co-op. The Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds are wrestling wearing their singlets and the Blackhawks are wearing theirs, but they are all still one team.

In their first action of the season, they traveled to Gregory for the Gregory Invitational. There were 13 teams participating and WSWWW ended in fourth place as a team.

Their next action was a triangular in Highmore with WSWWW sweeping the competition. They beat Sunshine Bible Academy 54-22, and they conquered Miller/Highmore-Harrold 63-18.

This past weekend WSWWW traveled to Plankinton for the MVPCS Tournament. There were 18 teams involved, and WSWWW earned fourth place against some tough competition.

Next up for the wrestlers is the McCook Central Tournament in Salem on Saturday, Dec. 22.

Nine members of Hope Circle of Spirit of Faith Lutheran-Methodist church met in the home of Sue Larson on Friday, Dec. 14 at 5 p.m. for the regular monthly meeting and Christmas party. Attending were Barb Coulthard, Evelyn Mitzel, Jannet Larson, Vicki Linke, JoAnn Schladweiler, Ruth Jensen, Julie Davis, Vickie Hines, and Sue Larson.

Following the meal, 14 care baskets were packed for various individuals and families.

Sue Larson read devotions. A brief business meeting was held. It was decided to divide the “Jar Fund” offerings, which are collected all year, into donations of $100 for the Sanborn County Food Pantry and $100 for the Spirit of Faith Lutheran-Methodist Vacation Bible Camp.

Secret Prayer Sisters were revealed with a gift exchange and new “sisters” were drawn for 2019.

Their next meeting will be Feb. 13, 2019, at 5 p.m. at Prairie View Healthcare Community. Note that this is a change of time and day of the week!

The group discussed the progress of the completion of the new church. Dec. 23 will be their first worship date held in the new church.

The Artesian Area WWTS Christmas program “It All Happened in the Country” was performed by the youth on Wednesday evening, Dec. 12, at Artesian First Lutheran Church. Pictured are the youth and also other children in attendance for the program with all the candles lit in honor of Jesus’ birthday. The group then sang Happy Birthday to Jesus and blew out the candles.
