Guadalupe “Wally” DeLaRosa, 73, of Woonsocket, passed away on Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, at the Avera Queen of Peace Emergency Room, Mitchell.
A gathering of family and friends in remembrance was held Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the Basham Funeral Home in Woonsocket. Inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
Wally was born in Runge, Texas to Danial and Manuela (Castenada) DeLaRosa on May 4, 1945.
On Oct. 12, 1974, Wally was united in marriage to Bertha Collins at Deadwood by the Justice of the Peace. To this union, they had seven children. Wally worked in the Homestake Gold Mine for 28 years. He was a dedicated Christian and a member of the Whitewood Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha; his children, Darwin Mraz of Boulder City, Nev., Tom Mraz of Sturgis, Alicia Riley of Belle Fourche, Erica (Tracy) Burkel of Woonsocket, Jason DeLaRosa of Spearfish, Joshua (Susie) DeLaRosa of Dupree and Matthew (Maria) DeLaRosa of Woonsocket; five children from a previous marriage, Jessie, Rosa, Danial, Teresa and Carlos; his sister, Juanita Moreno of Waco, Texas; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
