The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket track team finally began their season last Thursday at the De Smet Booster Relays. Originally, the meet was average-sized, but it expanded into over 25 teams with every team trying to get in a meet before the blizzard hit. Both boys’ and girls’ teams were not at full strength as a few track athletes had to miss the meet for various reasons, but the team competed well. The team saw some great early season times, jumps, and throws in cold, windy conditions. SC/W boys were spearheaded by Spens Schlicht, winning the 300 Hurdles in a very competitive field. The SC/W girls saw two place in the 400 Meter Dash, Caycee Guinn and Taylor Lindsey, and the girl’s team also placed in two relays.
