July 3 will mark the 67th annual Woonsocket School Alumni Banquet. The officers have been trying different ideas to get all of the alumni involved. It is always great to see the classes that are having reunions come to the banquet, along with those who just enjoy coming. The sharing of some of the experiences and memories that have been made are just priceless. It would be so nice to see more of the alumni come and join the fun.
Many of you are probably not aware that an Alumni Scholarship in the amount of $500 has been established. This is for any Woonsocket High School students who want to further their education in a chosen field. This replaces the Anna Hollister Fund that was originally established for those in education. In order to keep providing this scholarship, we need the help of the alumni to attend the banquet, because a portion of the ticket sales goes to this fund. We have also started a 50/50 drawing to help defray expenses. A former alumnus, Darwin Peterson, has taken charge of this and enjoys when he can get some donations after the banquet, as well. We were unable to fulfill the entire scholarship this past year and still keep money for operating expenses.
