The regular meeting of the Woonsocket City Council was called to order by Mayor Lindy Peterson at 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 7, 2018, with the following members present: Jim Steichen, Joel Rassel, Brandon Goergen, Richard Reider, Darin Kilcoin and Derek Foos. Also present were Garet Foos and Arin Boschee.
Motion by Goergen, seconded by Rassel, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Motion by Steichen, seconded by Goergen, to approve the April 2, 2018, minutes. Motion carried.
Motion by Reider, seconded by Foos, to approve the Financial Statement. Motion carried.

Council discussed the Mason Building.

Council discussed a proposal from Dakota Pump to replace one of the pumps.
Council discussed Golf Cart Ordinance.
Lindy Peterson informed the Council that the City received $575.00 from Dakotaland Federal Credit Union to install trees.
The council would like to thank Lindy Peterson for his dedication and commitment to the City of Woonsocket for the eight years he served as councilmember and mayor.
The Council would like to thank Jim Steichen for his dedication and commitment to the City of Woonsocket for the six years he served as councilmember.
NEW BUSINESS
Richard Reider, having been nominated to office, took his oath of office and was seated as mayor for two years.
Arin Boschee, having been nominated to office, took his oath of office and was seated as Councilmember Ward I for two years.
Darin Kilcoin, having been nominated to office, took his oath of office and was seated as Councilmember Ward I for one year.
Brandon Goergen, having been nominated to office, took his oath of office and was seated as Councilmember Ward II for two years.
Garret Foos, having been nominated to office, took his oath of office and was seated as Councilmember Ward III for two years.
Mayor Reider announced the following persons heretofore appointed to their respective offices without being required to re-qualify as follows: City Attorney, Jeff Larson; Finance Officer, Tara Weber; Cemetery Sexton, Marc Olson; Librarian, Sarah Lieber; Water, Sewer, Streets and Maintenance, Richard Jensen and John Ames; Dumpground Caretaker, Doug Hansen; Official Newspaper, Sanborn Weekly Journal; Official Depository, First National Bank and Dakotaland Federal Credit Union.
Nominations were held for president of the council. Motion by D. Foos, seconded by Boschee, to nominate Joel Rassel. With no other nominations, motion by Kilcoin, seconded by D. Foos, to cast unanimous ballot. Motion carried.
Nominations were held for vice president of the council. Motion by Kilcoin, seconded by G. Foos, to nominate Brandon Goergen. With no other nominations, motion by G. Foos, seconded by Boschee to cast unanimous ballot. Motion carried.
Council discussed animals running at large in town.
Council discussed a West Nile Grant. Weber will send in application.
Other items that were held in discussion:
Cemetery – Work will continue to be done on getting stones leveled;
Cars – Letters will need to be sent out;
Streets – Priority on getting streets graded;
Fire Hall;
The city-wide cleanup will be May 17th;
Storm Drains – They continue to be cleaned out;
Dock – Floats need to be fixed.
With no further business to be discussed, motion by D. Foos, seconded by Goergen, to adjourn the meeting. Meeting was adjourned at 9:50 p.m.
