Artesian Town Board proceedings

Unapproved Minutes -  September 4, 2019

The Town of Artesian Council met on September 4, 2019 in regular session at the Artesian Community Center.  Council Member Kurt Effling called the meeting to order with Council Member Candi Danek, Council Member Travis King and Finance Officer Molly Ebersdorfer present.  Also present was Tom Fridley.

The minutes of the August 7, 2019, meeting were read, motion to approve by Danek, seconded by King; motion carried. Financial reports were read; motion to approve by King, seconded by Danek;  motion carried. The following vouchers were presented for the month:

Insurance Store – $5,657.00

USDA – $1,116.00

Xcel Energy –  $990.87

Artesian Fire Department – $125.00

Dawson Construction Inc. – $600.71

Molly Ebersdorfer – $500.00

Farmers Elevator – $718.32

Tom Fridley – $770.00

Weber Backhoe – $5,459.19

Kurt’s Repair – $2,106.05

Scott Supply Co – $40.48

C & B Operation – $26.90

Dawson Construction – $1,240.00

Old Business:   

New Business: Streets – discussion on additional gravel to be added to the city streets. The Council discussed nuisance properties and lots not mowed. Sewer/Garbage – reviewed billings. Park – discussion was held on winterizing the park and ball diamond areas. Motion by King, seconded by Danek, to repair bathrooms at ball park.  Motion by Danek, seconded by King, to repair campground bathhouse. 2020 CITY OF ARTESIAN BUDGET – Second Reading – Ordinance #2020-01.  

There being no further business brought before the council, meeting adjourned.  The next regular meeting is scheduled for October 2, 2019, at the Artesian Community Center at 7:30 p.m.

Jordan Klich

Woonsocket

Jordan Thomas Klich, 15, of Woonsocket, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, as a result of a car accident.

Funeral services were held at the Woonsocket High School on Thursday, Sept. 19. Visitations were held Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Spirit of Faith Church in Woonsocket and one hour prior to the service at the school on Thursday.

Jordan was born Sept. 20, 2003 in Mitchell to Lance and Sara (Borgstadt) Klich. Jordan attended Woonsocket High School and was a sophomore. He cherished friends and understood their importance. 

Highlights of his high school experiences were participating in the school play, attending prom, and being on the student council. Jordan had a constant love of reading, music and playing games. His smile and laugh stood out the most to those around him. Jordan was diligent to watch over his younger siblings, Mya and Max, with great care.

Grateful for having shared his life are his parents, Lance and Sara; sister, Mya; brother, Max; grandparents, Tom and Laurie Klich of Woonsocket and Jim Borgstadt of Mitchell; aunts and uncles, Lacey Klich of Huron, John and Heather Wages of Litchfield, Conn., Christa and Dean DeJong of Avon, Amanda and Rob Kubik of Sioux Falls; and many cousins.

Jordan was accompanied in death by his brother, Dylan, and preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Joan (Fuchs Wages) Borgstadt, and all his great-grandparents. 

Kristian Kesary

Woonsocket

Kristian Abraham Kesary, 14, of Woonsocket, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, as a result of a car accident.

Funeral services were held at the Woonsocket High School on Thursday, Sept. 19. Visitations were held on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at Spirit of Faith Church in Woonsocket and one hour prior to the service at the school on Thursday.

Kristian was born on Dec. 7, 2004, to Karlo Abraham Kesary and Kassondra Kae Peterson. He was the oldest of five children and took pride in being a wonderful brother to his younger siblings, Kaedin, Kali, Kai Bella and Kingston. He attended school as a freshman at Woonsocket High School.

Kristian was a quiet, well-mannered and mature young man. He loved to be adventurous and go on vacations with his family. His favorite place to be was anywhere near water, whether it was California, Coeur D’Alene in Idaho, or at the home of his great-aunt and uncle, Shawn and Kathy Peterson, on Twin Lakes, which was one of his favorite places to be.

Kristian loved playing video games with friends. Other times, he and his friends would venture off riding bikes, going to the pool or congregating at the jam ball court. Kristian was a good friend, and he had good friends.

Kristian is survived by his parents and siblings; his maternal grandparents, Troy Peterson of Brookings and Anne (Brian) Kunard of Coeur D’Alene, Idaho; his paternal grandparents, Carmen Yeoman of Woonsocket and Jesus Duron of Tijuana, Mexico; his great-grandparents, Doug and Lorena Peterson of Woonsocket and Blanca Elias of Tijuana, Mexico; his aunts, Kathy Peterson and Juliet Yeoman of Woonsocket, Sonia and Astrid of Tijuana, Mexico, Cindy of California and Carolyn Bauerelen of Tucson, Ariz.; his uncles, Shawn Peterson, Chris Peterson and Marcos Yeoman of Woonsocket, Taylor Peterson of Omaha, Neb., John of California and Charlie Bauerelen of Tucson, Ariz; and many cousins.
