The SC/W track team took a limited team to Howard Wood to participate in the Dakota Relays in Sioux Falls over the weekend. Howard Wood is the premier meet for the Upper Midwest that consists of teams from South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa. All individual events do not separate by class, while relays are separated by class. The SC/W track team participated in the Class B portion in all relays.
Friday, the lone SC/W competitor, Trey Ulmer, participated in the 100M Open. A slip out of the blocks cost him a shot at reaching the semis in the event. The Open 100M was run in-between two rain delays that impacted the Friday portion of the meet.
Ten SC/W athletes competed Saturday in five different events with perfect running conditions. Spens Schlicht ran the 300M Hurdles and four relay teams ran season bests in their events. The highlight of the day came in the Boys 4×200 Relay. The relay team of Trey Ulmer, Austin Schmit, Sawyer Senska, and Spens Schlict recorded an SC/W record with a time of 1:37.55 beating the mark of 1:38.10 set by the 2017 team of Trey Weber, Austin Schmit, Wyatt Feistner, and Logun Feistner.
The SC/W track team competes Tuesday, May 7, at the 281 Conference Meet in Miller. The Region Meet is scheduled for May 16 in Elkton.
