Deborah Kay Cornell, 62, of Nevada, Mo., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, at Nevada Regional Medical Center.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Nov. 19, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nevada with Father Peter Savidge officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Nevada. Rosary was held Monday, Nov. 18, with a visitation that followed at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
Deb was born on Aug. 31, 1957, in Mitchell to Wilfred A. and Dolores Marie (Koch) Wermers. She grew up in Mt. Vernon and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1975.
On Oct. 7, 1977, she married Peter W. Cornell in Mt. Vernon. She lived in Plankinton for nine years and had lived in Vernon County for the past 14 years.
Deb belonged to a quilting club and enjoyed sewing, doing crafts and making things for her children and grandchildren. She loved being with her family and traveling with her husband.
She is survived by her husband, Pete; three children, Justin (Jennifer) Cornell of Platte, Jeremy Cornell of Sheldon, Mo., and Jessica (Clarence) Meadows of Tulsa, Okla.; her mother, Delores Wermers of Woonsocket; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, Dave (Pat) Wermers of Sioux Falls, Deanna Jensen of Woonsocket and Susie (Mike) Sejnoha of Mitchell.
