The expanding animal feeding operation is located in the South ½ of Section 20, Township 105 North, Range 62 West in Sanborn County, approximately eight miles west and one half mile south of Letcher. The existing manure management system is for an open lot feeding a maximum of 3,500 beef cattle and consists of piping, diversion dikes or channels, seven sediment basins, four holding ponds, and 63.14 acres of drainage area. The existing holding ponds are designed for at least 365 days of liquid storage.
The proposed expansion is for an additional 500 beef cattle that will be confined within the existing open lots with no proposed modifications to the existing manure management system. The manure will be land applied to fields located in portions of the following sections in Aurora and Sanborn Counties.
Sanborn County:
Sections 5, 8, 16, 17, 19, 20, and 29 in Township 105 North, Range 62 West; and Sections 29 and 32 in Township 106 North, Range 62 West.
Aurora County:
Sections 10 and 12 in Township 104 North, Range 63 West; and Sections 12, 14, 22, 24, and 27 in Township 105 North, Range 63 West.

Any person desiring to comment on whether the application meets the general permit requirements must submit written comments within thirty (30) days of the publication of this notice. Commenters shall provide their name and address, a statement of the action they wish the department to take, and the facts supporting their position.
