The Sanborn Central Powerlifting team competed at the State Powerlifting Meet at Sioux Falls Roosevelt on Saturday, March 23. The meet consisted of more than 260 athletes competing in eight weight divisions in both the male and female categories.
The team highlight came when senior Kendra Morgan finished second overall in the 185+ weight class and first in the Class “A” division. Jasmine Greer (SF Roosevelt) and Morgan were tied in overall weight after Morgan won the squat and Greer was victorious in the bench. Kendra completed a school record 400-pound deadlift to take the lead with only Greer remaining. Greer took home the championship after jumping from her second lift of 375 pounds to an astounding 430-pound deadlift, which she completed.
Freshman Noah Wormstadt finished 23rd overall and fifth in Class “A” in the 182 lb weight class. He was the only other place-winner for the team.
