Town ‘N Kountry Kids 4-H Red Crew meets

The Town ‘N Kountry Kids Red Crew 4-H Club met on July 14 at the Community Center in Woonsocket.

The meeting was called to order by Vice President Bailey Feistner. The Flag Pledge was led by Shiloh Senska, and the 4-H Pledge was led by Blake Larson.

Roll call was led by Avery Miller with the topic, “What is a Project You Have Completed or in Process for Achievement Days?” which was answered by 24 members.

The secretary’s report was read by Sutton Senska and approved as presented.

The treasurer’s report was presented by Treasurer Evan Ohlrogge. It was moved by Lane Burkel, seconded by Luke Larson, to approve the report.  Motion carried.

The group had reports on all the activities from the last two months, and they were presented as follows:  Horse Safety – Avery Miller, Soles4Souls – Megan Linke, 4-H/Farmers Union Day – Alex and Paige Anderson, Memorial Day Program – Trevor Johnson, Isaiah Schulz and Tyson Eddy, Special Foods Contest – Lane Burkel, Barn Quilt Project – Sutton Senska, Fashion Revue Contest – Ty Burkel, Public Speaking Contest – Ty and Lane Burkel, Acaiya Schulz, and Emily Ohlrogge, Fourth of July Parade – Acaiya Schulz, Poppies – Gavin Scofield, County Horse Show – Avery Miller and National 4-H Shoot – Evan Ohlrogge.

For old business, the club noted that they need to schedule dates for a visit to the Wessington Springs nursing home and for the cleaning ditches project.

Under new business, members talked about Achievement Days. They can start registering projects anytime online. There are some big changes to the schedule including moving the BBQ from Saturday night to Friday night, along with Ag Olympics. The club will serve grilled burgers and hotdogs with SDSU ice cream for the Saturday noon meal, and will have the Parade of Purples during lunch.  Members reviewed all the changes and how it impacts the work schedule as well. Exhibits will be released, and participants will clean-up after the Senior Round Robin on Saturday. Every 4-H member who enters at least one exhibit will be entered in a drawing for $50. The drawing will be held when clean-up is complete and the member must be present to win.

Liz Brooks offered to have a project day on Saturday, July 20, so the group will work on a list of who is interested.

Following the meeting, Megan Linke presented a Character Activity about rising above the criticism in one’s life.  Blake Larson presented an illustrated talk about mounting deer antlers. Tyson Eddy gave an illustrated talk on making leather projects. Leader Lisa Snedeker served ice cream treats.

The next meeting is planned for August after Achievement Days.
