The Woonsocket Community Care and Learning Center is now open and accepting children from six weeks to 12 years in age. The hours are from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., five days a week, and drop-ins are accepted if there is availability. It is located at the old After Care Center, just west of St. Wilfrid Catholic Church.
Chelsea Waters, of Wessington Springs, has been hired to be the Director and daycare provider for the new facility, and she will answer any questions anyone may have in regards to getting a child enrolled or about what the Center has to offer. Waters is originally from Minnesota and has her Associates Degree in Child Development from Lake Area Tech in Watertown. After graduating from Lake Area, she worked as a Head Start and pre-school teacher in Huron for 2.5 years and as an after-school care provider for another 1.5 years. She is married to Weston Waters, and they have a two-year-old daughter named Rhaelyn.
