The third grade class studied the Macy’s Day parade before Thanksgiving break. They read a book called “Balloons Over Broadway” that taught the kids how the balloons got their start in the parade. They watched some videos on how the balloons are made and blown up, then finished the week with their own parade. Each student planned out their own balloon and then used balloons and other materials to create their “float.” It wasn’t as easy as they thought it would be, and a few extra balloons were gone through as the class learned the challenges of the inventing process.
