On Dec. 28, 2020, the Sanborn Central/Woonsocket FFA Officers held a Christmas party at Sanborn Central for all members and parents of the chapter. The officers who attended were Morgan Schmiedt, the daughter of Adam and Jody Schmiedt, Cassidy Slykhuis, daughter of Tana and Quinton Slykhuis, Mason Moody, son of Tracy and Perry Moody, Xavier Baysinger, son of Monica and Greg Baysinger, Bailey Feistner, daughter of Brian and Jennifer Feistner, Brooklyn Johnson, daughter of Kimberly Fridley, Maddie Schmiedt daughter of Darin Schmiedt and Anne Sandness, and lastly, Casady Dean, daughter of Lynette and Clayton Dean. All parents of the officers attended along with additional parents and FFA members. The FFA officers and parents, along with Jeanette and Jonathan Linke, provided games, plenty of fresh baked goods, and hot chocolate. There was a bean bag tournament, cookie decorating contest, Bingo, and an ugly sweater contest. Some of the games got quite competitive, especially Bingo and the ugly sweater contest. Prizes were awarded to each winner after each game.
During the Christmas party, Jeanette and Jonathan Linke added a meeting about what was accomplished in the 2020-2021 FFA year, along with the goals for the rest and upcoming years. They both talked to parents and students about the SAEs (Supervised Agricultural Experience), the fall fundraisers, and student activities. In the fall, the officers sold Cryslx cards, fruit, and butter braids. Each FFA member was given a goal for how much they needed to sell for each item. Each member had achieved the goal and then some. After the Christmas party was finished, Jeanette and Jonathan rounded up all of the seniors and their parents to talk about setting up and preparing for the state degrees. The FFA officers and team are looking forward to the CDEs coming up in the spring! Lots of preparation and practice will make for a great competitive season!
