NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held with the Sanborn County Planning & Zoning Board at 9:05 a.m., Monday, January 8, 2024. The meeting will be held on the second floor of the Sanborn County Courthouse in the Commissioners Room in Woonsocket, S.D. In the event of inclement weather, the meeting will be held the following Monday, January 15th, 2024.

The meeting is to discuss a Variance Application for a structure addition that will exceed the 75 feet side lot requirement per Section 515 (Minimum Yard Requirement). This is land on the NW4 25-106-60, Union Township, Sanborn County, S.D. 

All interested parties are encouraged to attend this hearing.

WSWWW Warhawks place six at McCook Central Tournament

The Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington Warhawks competed in the McCook Central Invitational Tournament on Friday, Dec. 22. Going up against wrestlers from 20 teams, the Warhawks landed in ninth place as a team, with six of the nine wrestlers placing in the top eight of their weight class.

The Warhawks get a little break until school resumes after the holidays. They take to the mats for their next competition on Friday, Jan. 5, in a traingular in Wolsey, starting at 5:30 p.m.

Mitchell Tech announces 2023-2024 Ambassadors

MITCHELL — Mitchell Technical College has released its 2023-2024 Student Ambassador list.

This year’s team of 60 Student Ambassadors was chosen by their instructors to represent their programs and Mitchell Tech, provide tours and answer questions at various events, including Tech Camps and Exploration Days. Selection to the Student Ambassador program is determined by academic achievement, communication skills and program knowledge.

Mitchell Tech’s 2023-2024 Student Ambassadors include locals Kaylee White of Woonsocket, Agricultural Technologies; Carver Lindsey of Woonsocket, Diesel Power Technology; and Kylie Schlenker of Woonsocket, Information Systems Technology.
