Sanborn County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. with Chairman Ebersdorfer presiding. Other members present were: Ohlrogge, Blindauer, S. Larson, and P. Larson. Also present was Auditor Larson. Motion by S. Larson, seconded by Ohlrogge, to approve the minutes as presented. All ayes. Motion carried. Auditor Larson reported that the wage for emergency management in the January 8 minutes should have said monthly, not annually.
HIGHWAY
Lee Goergen, Highway Superintendent/Weed Supervisor, met with the board. Highway happenings were discussed.
ZONING
Penny Farris, Director of Equalization, met with the board to inform them of situations with zoning. Future building in Woonsocket was discussed and some reclassifying of property.
ABATING TAXES
Auditor Larson presented taxes to be abated on Lot A of HJ Northrups 1st Addn in SE/427-105-60. The property was classified as ag instead of non-ag therefore resulting in a higher levy. Motion by Ohlrogge, seconded by Blindauer, to abate $340.94. All ayes. Motion carried.
SURPLUS PROPERTY
Jason Coenen reported to the board that we have surplus radar equipment for a police vehicle. Motion by Blindauer, seconded by P. Larson, to declare the equipment surplus. Another county will take the equipment. Our county has been the recipient of surplus of other counties. All ayes. Motion carried.
AMBULANCE ROSTER
Volunteers for Sanborn County Ambulance for 2018 were recognized and it is the intent of the County Commission to cover these volunteers for work comp purposes. The list is on file at the auditor’s office.
DRUG TASK FORCE AGREEMENT
Motion by Blindauer, seconded by P. Larson, to accept the James Valley Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force Joint Powers Agreement for the year 2018. Other counties participating are Aurora, Davison, Hanson, and the City of Mitchell. All ayes. Motion carried.
