Monday morning brought some excitement to Main Street in Woonsocket. At around 9:30 a.m., Jeff Pomerico and a friend of his, both of Huron, entered the N40 Convenience Store to play video lottery. Pomerico wrote a check for $100 cash, and started to play in the casino area. N40 Co-owner, Cara Poyer, noticed that the name of the checking account was not the name the man signed on the check, so she had her husband, co-owner, Jeff Poyer, look into the account. It was, in fact, a check from a closed account. Poyer then called the sheriff to come to his establishment and handle the situation.
