Sanborn County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at 9:00 a.m. with Chairman Jeff Ebersdorfer presiding. Other members present were: Steve Larson, Ray Ohlrogge, Gary Blindauer, and Paul Larson. Also present was Deputy Auditor Barb Regynski.  Motion by Ohlrogge, seconded by Blindauer, to approve the minutes as presented. All ayes. Motion carried. 

HIGHWAY

Stacy Mendenhall, Highway Superintendent, and Sheri Kogel, Administrative Assistant, met with the board. Updates on happenings in the department, road conditions, and culverts were discussed.  

RURAL ATTORNEY RECRUITMENT

Suzanne Starr, Rural Attorney Recruitment Advocate and Kelly Knaan met with the board. The contract for the Rural Attorney Recruitment would be for five years at $5,500 per year. Knaan would be required to do a certain number of probono cases per year. Motion by Blindauer, seconded by Ohlrogge, to enter into this contract contingent on whether Knaan passes the bar exam. All ayes. Motion carried.  

FEMA MEETING

Jason Coenen, Emergency Management, reported that the FEMA meeting for county and townships will be held on Friday, July 12th, at the 4-H Building in Forestburg at 3:00 p.m.  

MINNEHAHA COUNTY JAIL 

Motion by S. Larson, seconded by P. Larson, to enter into a contract with Minnehaha County for Prisoner Care at $97.34 per day. All ayes. Motion carried.  

MITCHELL AMBULANCE

Notice was received from the Mitchell Regional Ambulance that it will not service the Sanborn County area. All 911 calls will be directed to the Sanborn County Ambulance.
