The National Honor Society has been busy this year with various activities and volunteer opportunities. The students have been collecting paper and plastics to recycle. During their free blocks they volunteered to read to younger students in the library during elementary library times. The students started the year by greeting students in the elementary or watching elementary classrooms while teachers greeted to welcome the students to a new school year. The NHS students spent some volunteer time working at the concession stand to raise money. The NHS has donated money to buy the band new sheet music and to help purchase the benches in front of the new elementary. In the past, the NHS has also donated money towards the new community center and several local benefits. According to co-advisor Dayna Rodriguez, “Our students have been great. They jumped in every time we came up with something new to volunteer for. We appreciate all the things they have done this year to help improve our school and community.”
