Bailey Moody of Letcher competed at the National High School Finals in Rock Springs, Wyo. July 14-20. She competed in the event of pole bending.
During their first performance Bailey and her horse (Chilo) ran a 20.663, which placed them in 27th for the first go-round.
In their second performance, they ran a 20.778, which placed them 40th for the second go-round. They ended up 24th out of 168 contestants for the entire rodeo. They missed the short-go of the top twenty by approximately .2 seconds.
During the week there were many other activities that the contestants could take part in.
All South Dakota National Team members and their families attended a potluck picnic Sunday night at the campgrounds.
Tuesday afternoon, South Dakota competed in a national volleyball tournament led by their National Director Digger Rutten.
Wednesday afternoon, Bailey and a few others from the South Dakota team volunteered at a Special Kids rodeo. Many prizes were donated for children with disabilities. This was one highlight of Bailey’s week.
