The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket volleyball team remains undefeated going into homecoming week and was named the Custer Battlefield Highway champs this past Saturday.
SC/W defeated Corsica/Stickney, 25-12, 25-16, followed by Kimball, 25-14, 25-11, in the first two rounds of tournament play. SC/W went on to claim the title, stopping White Lake for the second time this season, 25-19 and 25-19.
In the first round versus C/S, Candace Page-Marten led her team with two aces and nine assists. Rachelle Moore added eight digs and an ace and Marissa Weber put seven kills in the book.
Page-Marten again had a great showing in game two with 10 digs, eight assists and one ace. Moore threw in five digs, while Weber had 10 kills. Savannah Swenson also added three aces and four digs.
In the championship win over White Lake, Page-Marten again put up big numbers with 16 assists and five digs. Moore had 15 digs and Weber made 13 kills.
Shelby Selland also put down four blocks, two digs and two assists. Rachel Selland added up four kills, three blocks and three digs and Logan Moody had seven digs.
The Blackhawks next hosted Wessington Springs Tuesday, who they beat, 3-1. The Hawks are not 8-0 heading into a Saturday tournament in Emery.
