Swan cygnet leaves the nest

OUR SWAN guy, Randy Sharping, of Pukwana catches the young swan.

Our local swan family has drawn a lot of interest over the years, with all the customary drama of any family living in the public eye.
Some may wonder what happened to the baby swan we have all watched grow and develop into a young adult swan over the past few months.
Randy Sharping of Pukwana, who supplied us with our male swan, came and picked up the remaining cygnet a couple of weeks ago.
Unfortunately, the sibling of this swan passed away to undetermined causes this past summer.
This is the first year that this pair of swans have produced cygnets, and they have provided our town with enjoyment all year. We hope this pair of swans will continue to provide more little ones in the years to come.

The local swan family enjoys some last time in the nest together before the youngster spreads his wings to move on.
