Aberdeen – Eight Wheat Growers locations have been awarded Meritorious Achievement Awards in Occupational Safety as part of the Governor’s Safety Awards program. Meritorious Achievement awards are given for superior safety performance.
The Wheat Growers locations that received awards were: Carpenter, Chamberlain, Aberdeen Administrative Office, Miller, Stickney, Tulare, Willow Lake and Woonsocket Agronomy.
“The employees at these Wheat Growers locations have worked hard and shown tremendous dedication to safety and health,” Bill Spreeman, Wheat Growers Vice President, Safety, Environmental and Regulatory Affairs, said.
“One of Wheat Growers’ core values is a commitment to a positive safety culture, and this recognition by the Governor’s Safety Awards program is another example of how seriously we take that core value. These awards don’t come our way unless everyone is doing their job safely, productively and efficiently every day.”
The Governor’s Safety Awards recognize employers with superior safety records. Employers submit workplace injury data that is then compared with state and national data and the entrant’s past performance. Ongoing safety programs and activities are also considered. The eight Wheat Growers locations will be recognized during the Governor’s Safety Awards luncheon at the South Dakota Safety and Health Conference, Wednesday, Oct. 5, in Sioux Falls.
