Lloyd and Audrey Kempf of Woonsocket competed in the South Dakota Senior Games in the male 80-84 age division and female 75-79 age division respectively, in Aberdeen, Aug. 25-28.
Five hundred seventy senior athletes participated with  approximately 130 of those from out-of-state. Competition is by age category  for those over 50 years of age, in five year increments, all the way up to 100+ years.  This year one person, age 103, competed in several throwing events. There are 22 different events, including track and field.
Lloyd’s results are as follows: first in field goals with 16 points; first in the 50-meter dash with a time of 0:09:79; second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 0:19:83; second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 0:41:89; first in high jump with 3 feet, 10 inches; first in pole vault with 5 feet, 1 inch; first in discus with 69 feet, 10 inches; and first in the hammer throw with 87 feet, 6 inches.
Audrey placed first in high jump with 2 feet, 10 inches; first in shot put with 19 feet, 5 inches; first in discus with 55 feet, 11 inches; first in javelin with 38 feet, 5 inches; and second in the softball throw with 43 feet.
