4-H

The Town ‘N Kountry Kids Red Group 4-H Club chose a Christmas Caring Project to show appreciation to our healthcare staff at the Woonsocket Community Health Center and the Prairie View Healthcare Center. Club members put together “Healthcare Survival Kits” with 10 items that included Jolly Ranchers to make their day jolly and cheerful, a rubberband to remind them to be flexible, gum to help them get through sticky situations, a pen to list their blessings each day, and a puzzle piece because, without them, our healthcare would not be complete.  In addition, to give them a burst of energy when they need it, each of the staff at the Community Health Center was given a gift card to the Muddy Cup and the staff at Prairie View found a variety of pop and Bubbl’r drinks in their breakroom to enjoy.  Club members also sang and recorded Christmas carols to share with friends online.  Committee members were Hope Baysinger, Lane Burkel, Trevor Johnson, Josie Arhart and Samuel Hansen.

The Town ‘N Kountry Kids Red Group 4-H Club celebrated and showed their appreciation to Woonsocket School teachers and staff during American Education Week with a couple of gifts.  Each staff member received a packet of microwave popcorn that said “Popping in to Say Thanks,” along with a pack of paper clips with a note that said “T Is For Thank You. Popping In To Say Thanks for Holding Everything Together!”

It was an exciting day over in Forestburg on Sunday, Nov. 7. For the third time, Sanborn County 4-H sponsored a trapping workshop. The afternoon started off with Darold Bitterman and Mike Piehl explaining the different types of traps, how to set them and demonstrating how to skin a raccoon. Later, the participants were able to assemble their own snares using materials donated by the Game, Fish and Parks. Thanks to some generous sponsors, each person was able to receive their own coon cuff and four lucky adults had their names drawn for knives donated by Dakota Line Snares.
