Kathleen Sadler

Wrenshall, Minn.

Kathleen “Kay” B. Sadler, 95, of Wrenshall, Minn., passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2024, at Vita Care Assisted Living in Duluth, Minn.

A visitation was held on Wednesday, Oct. 2, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis Catholic Church in Carlton, Minn. Interment service was at the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet, Minn. 

Kay was born Dec. 4, 1928, in Duluth, Minn., the daughter of Rudolph and Mary (Bennett) Gimpel. She graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1946. She went to work as a secretary for businesses and law offices in Duluth and Cloquet before becoming the secretary/office manager for the Carlton County Attorney’s Office until her retirement in 1987. 

Kay married Emil Sadler on Feb. 14, 1953, and they resided on their family farm for many years. 

Kay loved flower gardening, especially roses. She was meticulous at creating flower gardens and landscaping her yard, earning her the attention of numerous garden clubs and tours. She also spent time doing oil paintings of landscapes.

Kay is survived by her children, Jeff (Dawn) Sadler of Wrenshall, Minn., Brian (Mary) Sadler of Woonsocket, Kathy Hackensmith of Attleboro, Mass., and Laurie (Glenn) Anderson of Wrenshall, Minn.; 12 grandchildren, including Rachel (Reid) Lindgren of Woonsocket; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emil Sadler in 1999; and a sister, Marguerite “Peggy” Colosimo.

BETTY DIXON

Mitchell

Betty Dixon, 94, of Mitchell, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024, at Avera Brady Health and Rehab in Mitchell. 

Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 7, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Mitchell. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Arrangements were by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Betty Jean Dixon was born Oct. 16, 1929, to Alvin and Hattie Moe in Huron. Betty pursued a nursing career after high school, graduating from Methodist Nursing School on May 27, 1952. Then, a few years later, she attended Cook County School of Medicine and graduated with a certificate of Anesthesiology. She worked in the Miller Hospital, Methodist Hospital, and her last job before retirement was working with Dr. Gillis.

On June 6, 1958, Betty married Robert Dixon at the St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Mitchell. In 1973, they built the Coachlight Motel, which they operated together until Robert’s passing. Betty also enjoyed spending her time working at the Hotel Lawler Restaurant. She was a member of South Dakota Nursing Association, South Dakota Innkeepers Association, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, New Home Lutheran Church, and the Methodist Hospital Alumni Association.

She is survived by her daughter, Jayne Dixon of Box Elder; son, Bryan (Cindi) Dixon of Mitchell; five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dixon; her parents, Alvin and Hattie Moe; and sisters, Marcella Melius and Geraldine Schlipp.

Dani Schaller

Wessington Springs

Dani Schaller, 36, of Wessington Springs, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024, at her home in Wessington Springs.

Her funeral service was held on Friday, Sept. 27, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron with burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Yale. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. 

Danielle Ruth Kuehl was born on Jan. 15, 1988, to parents Stuart and Betsy (Hornig) Kuehl in Huron. Dani grew up in Yale and went to school in Iroquois, graduating in 2006. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Yale.

Dani enjoyed going on motorcycle rides, cooking for family and friends, and getting tattoos. She had a special place in her heart for all kitties.

Dani married Ryan Schaller on Oct. 8, 2022, in Wessington Springs. Dani loved life with Ryan and his sons, Nolan and Lorin.

Dani is survived by her husband, Ryan of Wessington Springs; stepsons, Nolan and Lorin Schaller of Wessington Springs; her brothers, Jeremy Kuehl of Huron, Brian Kuehl of Cavour and Cody Kuehl of Yale; her parents, Stuart and Betty Kuehl of Yale; her parents-in-law, Lorin and Beverly Schaller of Woonsocket; two nephews and a niece; and many special friends and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
