Esther Olson, 93, Mitchell, died Saturday, May 25, 2013, in Firesteel Healthcare Center.
Funeral services were Wednesday in First United Methodist Church, Mitchell. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday evening with a prayer service in the Bittner Funeral Chapel.
She was born May 9, 1920 at Fulton to Mike and Lilly (Larson) Weber. She attended the Webb Country School through the eighth grade and graduated from Plano High School in 1938.
On Sept. 15, 1942, she married Clyde Olson. They resided on a farm 10 miles south of Artesian, where they farmed for 30 years. In 1973 they moved to Mitchell. Esther worked as a nurse’s aid in the Methodist Hospital for 23 years and was a Kmart greeter, until retiring at the age of 80.
Esther resided at Wesley Acres before moving to Firesteel Healthcare. She was a member of the Farwell United Methodist Church at rural Artesian and First United Methodist Church at Mitchell where she was involved in the various women’s organizations.
She is survived by her four children, Jeanie (Eugene) Wohl, Lodi, Calif., Mary (Larry) Crane, Carl Olson and Bob Olson, Mitchell; five grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
