WOONSOCKET – The week of Aug. 11-17, Horizon Health Care, Inc. (Horizon) held a photo contest for ages 13 and above, which was part of a week-long “National Health Center Week” (NHCW) campaign to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s Health Centers as local solutions.
Community Health Centers, also known as Federally Qualified Health Centers (or FQHCs) are non-profit, community-directed health care providers located in medically underserved rural and urban communities where health care resources are scarce. Health centers provide access to care regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.
Horizon is a FQHC that serves the medical, dental and mental health care needs of South Dakotans in rural, medically underserved areas through 78,000 patient visits annually in 18 community health centers in: Aberdeen, Bryant, DeSmet, Howard, Huron, Lake Preston, Martin, Mission, Plankinton, Springfield, Wessington Springs, White River and Woonsocket.
Horizon’s Whiting Memorial Community Health Center’s (CHC) photo contest was open to anyone who submitted a photo in one of the following categories: local historic buildings, local points of interest, celebrating diversity and landscapes/nature. Horizon would like to congratulate the winner of this year’s NHCW photo contest, Jen Hinker of Woonsocket.
