CARA AND Jeff Poyer are pictured here in their new convenience and liquor store in Skeeter’s North Forty. The store opened last Thursday and is open seven days a week.
The building connected to the north of Skeeters Lounge in Woonsocket known as the “North Forty” has undergone major renovation in the past few months and has now been opened as the N40 Convenience & Liquor store.
Jeff and Cara Poyer own Skeeters and the adjoined building, the North Forty, which had been used mostly for private parties, office space and storage.
The Poyers decided this past summer to repurpose the space to offer competitive prices on beer and liquor and also convenience items such as snacks, pop, ice cream and coffee. Breakfast items are available and they plan to have lunch specials as well. Skeeters and the N40 also now offer Hot Stuff Pizza.
The space includes a large variety of wine, video lottery and tables and a TV set up in the front of the store where a larger window was added to brighten up the area.
Store hours are Sunday-Thursday 6:30 a.m.-10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 6:30 a.m.- 12 p.m.
Other improvements to Skeeters include an outdoor sitting area in a space between the two buildings just off the main street sidewalk.
A door was added to the north wall adjacent to the bar to provide access to the patio. The windowed door also adds natural light, which lightens up the bar area. The patio was built this past summer and was in use by the Fourth of July Water Festival.
