The search for Rachel Cyriacks continues as law enforcement used cadaver dogs in an area south of Alpena Friday, but came up empty.
A large amount of dirt had been displaced last fall when an area was dug up to install a tile drainage system. Sanborn County Sheriff Tom Fridley says the recent dirt work could have left open the possibility she was placed at that area.
Fridley is urging farmers and local residents to take some time this spring to look around on their property, including fields, shelterbelts, drainage ditches and abandoned buildings, for anything that may seem unusual.
Thirty-year-old Cyriacks has been missing since mid-November. She lived in Woonsocket and worked a temporary job at Performance Pet Products in Mitchell, where she was last seen.
Her house in Woonsocket was vandalized April 6 with the words “Riverside for Life” and an expletive spray-painted on the outside. A window was broken from the inside and a table and light fixture broken inside.
A helicopter search was also conducted about a month ago between Huron and Woonsocket, to no avail.
If anyone has any information that may be tied to this case, they are asked to call the Sanborn County Sheriff’s office at 605-796-4511.
