Diane Marie Rogers, 68, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Woonsocket, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls.
A memorial service was held at the Basham Funeral Home in Woonsocket on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Rhonda Wellsandt-Zell officiating. Visitation was at the funeral home on Monday evening, Oct. 3, with a 7 p.m. prayer service. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
Diane was born Aug. 7, 1948, in Mitchell to Joseph and Beulah (Luthi) Podhradsky. She grew up in Woonsocket and graduated from Woonsocket High School. She graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell and went on to teach in many communities.
At a meeting in Sully County, she met Bob Rogers. They were married July 21, 1973. She continued to teach in a country school there, and Bob taught in town. She also taught in Agar, Lodgepole and Camp Crook. They came back to Woonsocket, where she taught Title One for the school system.
Diane is survived by her husband, Bob Rogers, two sons, Zack and Kelley Rogers, and a granddaughter, Hailey, all of Sioux Falls; a very special niece, Sheri Canfield, of Sioux Falls; nephew, Lucky Peterson of Aberdeen; brothers, Gerald (Mary Lee) Podhradsky of Stickney, and Larry (Annie) Podhradsky of Woonsocket; sisters-in-law, Sheryl (Podhradsky) Wilson of Hurley, Velta (George) Vogel of Denver, Colo., and Marsha Durington of Arizona; and brother-in-law, Thom (Marjean) Rogers, South Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law; granddaughter, Angelica; and brothers-in-law, Russell Durington and Jerry Rogers.
