Microsoft Word - CarverWordDoc..doc    Deputy Coroner Kit Gerard Carver, 61, resident of Rancho Murieta, Calif., formerly of Woonsocket, died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Dec. 14, 2015, after a short battle with ALS.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. at the Harvest Church (10385 East Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove). Remembrances may be made to the Greater Sacramento Chapter of the ALS Association (websac.alsa.org).
Kit was born in Lamar, Colo., on July 21, 1954, to Russell and Gladys Carver. He moved to Woonsocket, where he grew up and graduated from Woonsocket High School. He attended the University of South Dakota and Arizona State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business. Kit married June Burke on Aug. 21, 1982, in Elk Grove.
Kit dedicated his life to public service. He became a firefighter with the Elk Grove Fire Department when he coordinated EMS training and was the department’s first paramedic. With a passion for teaching, he provided EMS training for local fire departments and taught EMT classes at Consumes River College. He was one of the founding members of the Drowning Accident Rescue Team (DART) and, for the last eight years of his life, served the County of Sacramento as a Deputy Coroner.
He also had an entrepreneurial spirit and a love for business. Along with his partner Herb Grosz, Kit owned and operated Ampro Asphalt Service in Elk Grove for many years. He also established an EMS training and consulting business, providing CPR and EMT certifcation for many public and private organizations. Later, Kit and his wife ventured to the midwest where they owned and operated Kit’s Computer Service and the Lake Prior Lodge.
Kit is survived by his wife of 33 years, June; daughter, Aleia (Brian) Amend; two grandchildren; father, Russel Carver; sisters, Carolyn (Ed) Jenkins, Julie (Tom) Ashworth and Kelli (Kenny) McFarland; brothers, Tom (Laura) Carver, Terry Beddow, Jim (Jean) Beddow and Craig (Kristen) Beddow; sister-in-law, Sharon (Roger) Dickson; and brother-in-law, Donald (Veronica) Burke.
He also leaves behind dear friends and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Beddow and brother, Jim Carver.
