The meeting was called to order by Vice President Ellie Evans. Pledges were led by Kara Wormstadt and Alexis Kelly. Seventeen members answered roll call. The secretary and treasurer reports were read by Brady Larson. Committee reports were given by Ellie on grandparents and on the BBQ ticket donations. It was discussed to purchase the tickets earlier to give the committee more time to decide who will receive the free tickets.
Old business: Peach sales were discussed. Teagen Moody reported that the fun day was a success, with 54 people attending. The money obtained from the pie contest and selling snow cones would be used to purchase a flag pole and flags for the 4-H building. If extra money is available, it will be used to make building improvements. Motion was made and carried to purchase a 4-H flag, also.
New business: State Fair exhibits would be due to the office by Aug. 26; baking and horticulture would be due Aug. 26 before 4 p.m. Record books are due Sept. 30. The forms are at sanborncounty.com. Recognition event will be held on Nov. 12. Bryce Larson made a motion to serve lunch at a horse event on Oct. 2 at the 4-H grounds, starting at 1 p.m. Keaton Fridley seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Demonstrations were given by Caleb Kneen on Shooting Sports/Parts of a BB Gun, and Toby Kneen on Dehydrating Apples.
The next meeting will be held on Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Letcher Community Center. For lunch, each family is to bring a snack that has apples included.
Members wrote letters to their adopted grandparents telling about Achievement Days.
