Artesian First Lutheran and area women met at the church on Tuesday evening, Nov. 28. The business meeting was held prior to Bible study and quilting. Treasurer Deanna Dean reported on the results of the Harvest Fest Bazaar table and the Thankoffering which was collected in church on Nov. 19.
The WWTS Christmas program will be held at the church on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 6:30 p.m. Lunch will be served following the program. Deanna Dean, Shirley Olson and Jerolyn Dean will be organizing the lunch. All are invited to attend the program and lunch. The children and their leaders put a great deal of effort into the program and appreciate everyone’s support.
Many have donated food items and County Fair coupons. The turkeys purchased with the coupons and non-perishable foods are used to fill the Sanborn County Christmas food baskets. The group is grateful for everyone’s generosity.
The ladies have also been collecting items for the Prairie View Healthcare Center. They plan to deliver those items on Dec. 12, and sing a few familiar Christmas carols for the residents. More ladies are needed to help with the singing. Joyce Olson will accompany the group on the piano.
Christmas holiday projects were discussed, and some of the organizations the group plans to help in December include the Angel Tree, Abbott House, Mitchell Area Safehouse and Feeding South Dakota.
Bible study was led by Judy Wormstadt, using the Gather magazine study titled “Joy to the World.” The lesson was a reflection on the many joys of Christmas. Jerolyn Dean served lunch.
The latter part of the evening was spent working on quilts that will be given as Christmas gifts to local charitable organizations who have a need for quilts.
