Bailey Feistner, a seventh grader at Woonsocket School, was recently chosen to be the state ambassador for Fuel Up to Play 60 program.
As an ambassador, Feistner and her advisor, Armando Rodriguez, attended the national summit recently in Minneapolis, where Feistner received a $1,000 grant through the program. The grant will be used to help implement healthy after-school snacks in Woonsocket.
Feistner says she plans to have an after-school snack program that allows kids to buy less expensive healthy snacks. The program will begin implementation this next school year.
This is the first time a Woonsocket student has been chosen as state ambassador. The Fuel Up to Play 60 program was started at Woonsocket School five years ago by Rodriguez.
