RAPID CITY – Nearly 600 South Dakota School of Mines & Technology students were named to the Dean’s List for the 2018 spring semester.
In order to merit a spot on the Dean’s List, students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the semester.
Drew Hinker of Woonsocket was included on the list.
The 51st Annual Lake Area Technical Institute graduation ceremony was held Friday, May 11, with 808 graduates receiving their diplomas.
Holly J. Petersen of Woonsocket, majoring in Practical Nursing, was presented her diploma by Mike Cartney, President of Lake Area Tech.
The Artesian Memorial Day program was well attended. Commander Karen Lambert was the MC for the program. Karen Klinkner read the prayers. Clair Lambert, Tom Fridley, and Bill Austerman carried the flags and did the gun salute. Catherine Bechen, Austin Schmit, and Marcus Mernough read several readings. Jonathan Linke was the Memorial Day speaker. Jonathan is the son of Paula and Henry Linke and he attends SDSU. He gave a very nice Memorial Day message. Grandchildren of Tom Fridley and Karen Lambert carried the poppies while Tom read the names of those members who had given the ultimate sacrifice due the wars. The American Legion Auxiliary served the lunch.
