City of Woonsocket donates used equipment

Armando Rodriguez hands over the equipment donated by the City of Woonsocket and community members to Craig Severtson, Founder of the Helping Kids Round First organization.

Last Thursday night, Armando Rodriguez, summer rec coach, went to the baseball diamond in Woonsocket to collect used baseball and softball equipment. He had put a notice on Facebook that he was collecting used equipment for an organization that donates used baseball and softball equipment to underprivileged kids. The organization is called Helping Kids Round First.

The City of Woonsocket had some gear that was no longer usable for their programs or no longer needed. Along with the other donations from people who had old or unused equipment laying around their homes, the donation given to the program by Coach Armando Rodriguez, representing the City of Woonsocket, on Friday evening was quite substantial. Armando played baseball for the Alexandria Angels amateur baseball team and his team played Flandreau in the State Amateur Baseball Tournament on Friday night.
