Marie Collum is a Woonsocket High School graduate. A few years ago she was diagnosed with a Chordoma brain tumor, and they were able to remove most of it. Unfortunately, the tumor has grown back, and Marie needs to have it treated again; however, she has no health insurance and no money to pay for the very expensive medical care she needs. 

Up steps Jeff Schulz, a former high school classmate and long-time friend of Marie’s. He is the son of Janet Baysinger and Jack Schulz, both of Woonsocket. His wife, Jayni (Boschee), is also a Woonsocket alumnus. Jeff decided that he wanted to help Marie in some way with this enormous feat, but he knew he couldn’t take it all on financially, so he decided to do what he does best, run.
