Legion baseball team splits with Chamberlain

Sawyer Senska takes the throw at second base to tag the runner out, while Trey Weber, playing shortstop, hurries to back him up.

On Monday, June 10, the American Legion Post 14 baseball team traveled to Chamberlain for a doubleheader. The Blackhawks won the first game with a score of 6-2, but the Cubs got the better of them in the second game and handed a loss to the Blackhawks with a score of 3-8.

The American Legion Post 14 in Wessington Springs is sponsoring two teams this year. They have a senior Legion team and a junior Legion team. Both teams are comprised of boys from Wessington Springs, Woonsocket, and Sanborn Central schools.

The Blackhawks will see their next action at home in Wessington Springs on Friday, June 15, with a doubleheader against Onida, starting at 6 p.m.

A full schedule for the Blackhawks baseball teams can be found on their Facebook page under Blackhawk Baseball.
