This past weekend, June 13-16, Madi Moody and Tater Moody both competed in the South Dakota High School Rodeo Finals in Belle Fourche for a chance to compete at the National High School Finals Rodeo.
Tater competed in team roping, and Madi competed in team roping, breakaway roping, pole bending and goat tying. Madi placed third in the first and second rounds in pole bending, which qualified her for the short round. She then made the National team by placing third overall in pole bending. Madi was also elected to be a state officer.
Tater and Madi enjoyed all the activities and taking part in the state finals rodeo, but they both especially enjoyed the Special Needs Rodeo and helping with it.
Madi will now compete in the pole bending competition at the 70th National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyo., which takes place July 15-21. Again, this year the Saturday championship performance will be televised nationally as a part of the “Cinch High School Rodeo Tour” telecast series on RFD-TV. Live broadcasts of each NHSFR performance will air online at www.RidePass.com. Performance times are 7 p.m. on July 15 and 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day thereafter.
