On Thursday, Sept. 6, the Lady Blackhawks hosted the Mitchell Christian Golden Eagles at the Sanborn Central gym. SCW came out on top with a 3-0 finish. Set scores were 29-27, 25-16 and 25-7. It took the Blackhawks a little while to get going, but once they did, they dominated the game.
Their next game for the day was against the Corsica-Stickney Jaguars. This game also went to three sets, but the Blackhawks came out of this one with a victory. Set scores were 25-17, 18-25 and 25-15.
The third game for the Blackhawks brought them up against the Iroquois Lady Chiefs. The Blackhawks won in two sets with identical scores of 25-11.
For their fourth and final game of the night, SCW met up with Mt. Vernon/Plankinton. They ended up taking a loss, but it was an incredible battle for such a late game. They went three sets with scores of 20-25, 26-24 and 20-25.
The Lady Blackhawks have been playing good, hard volleyball with some great competitors and holding their own nicely. They are improving with every game, and they are proving themselves as good competition for the best teams in the area. Their next action was on Tuesday, Sept. 11, when they hosted Wessington Springs in Woonsocket. They will see Oldham/Ramona/Rutland on Saturday, Sept. 15, at Sanborn Central starting with junior high at 1 p.m.
