Feeding South Dakota and the Sanborn County Food Pantry want to inform Sanborn County residents that the Food Giveaway has returned and will be held Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 5 p.m. (until gone).

The Food Giveaway provides free food to families in need. The free food includes assorted frozen and fresh produce, frozen meats, assorted breads and assorted canned and boxed items. 

Boxes for food will be available, but recipients are encouraged to bring their own. There is no entry to the Food Giveaway before 4:45 p.m.

Feeding South Dakota is a statewide organization with locations in Pierre, Rapid City and Sioux Falls. Their mission is to eliminate hunger in South Dakota. For more information or to make a donation to support food giveaways, please visit feedingsouthdakota.org.

The Town ‘N Kountry Kids Blue Group met on Sunday, Aug. 18, at 5 p.m. at the Letcher Community Center. The meeting was called to order by the president, Ellie Evans. Pledges were led by Dean Hanson and Cole Wilson. The roll call topic “What was your favorite project?” was answered by 18 members and six clover buds. A motion was made by Miley Adams to pay the current bills; motion was seconded by Dean Hanson. 

Old Business: 

Achievement Days: The group discussed likes and dislikes.

New Business: 

A motion was made by Kaylee Adams to have the next meeting at the Woonsocket nursing home with projects. Cade Wilson seconded the motion. Motion carried. Thirteen members read their 4-H stories for their record books. Nathan Linke talked to the club about being a 4-H ambassador and the importance of public speaking. Paula Linke talked to the club about expectations for record books.

Sharon Busch

Woonsocket

Sharon Busch, 54, of Woonsocket and formerly of Huron, passed away on Monday, Aug. 19, 2019, at Prairie View Healthcare Center in Woonsocket.

A private family service will be held at Broadland Cemetery at a later date.

Sharon Kay Busch was born March 5, 1965, in Huron to parents, James H. and Lillian S. (Miedema) Busch. Sharon attended school with the special education department in Huron. She was always happy with a smile for all and loved by many. She enjoyed puzzles and coloring. Her favorite color was yellow.

Sharon is survived by her parents, James and Lillian of Huron; brother, Kelly Busch of Huron; sisters, Barb (Scott) Lillethun of Des Moines, Iowa, and Eva (David) Barnes of Huron; seven nieces and nephews and four great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
