Cathy Hegg is currently at Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls undergoing a new cancer therapy, known as CAR-T therapy.
On Jan. 7, Cathy received her own T-Cell transplant to treat Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, which she has been battling since July 13, 2017. CAR-T stands for Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-Cell therapy, which is a type of treatment known as immunotherapy. With CAR-T therapy, the T-cells are modified to recognize cancer cells in order to more effectively target and destroy them. Following the transplant, Cathy will be hospitalized until Jan. 21. Upon her discharge, Cathy will remain in Sioux Falls for at least two weeks. Get well wishes can be sent to 712 N Blue Bell Ln, Sioux Falls, SD 57107.
