Sanborn County Commissioners proceedings

FEBRUARY 19, 2019

Sanborn County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at 9:00 a.m. with Chairman Ebersdorfer presiding. Other members present were: S. Larson, Ohlrogge, Blindauer, and P. Larson. Also present was Auditor Larson. Motion by Blindauer, seconded by Ohlrogge, to approve the minutes as presented. All ayes. Motion carried. 

HIGHWAY

Stacy Mendenhall, Highway Foreman, met with the Board.  Plowing snow and the difficulties encountered were discussed. 

BID LETTING

9:30 a.m. Bid Letting-Hot/Cold Mix

Asphalt Paving & Materials,    Cost of Hot Mix per ton $70.00

Commercial Asphalt, Cost of Hot Mix per ton $60.00, Cost of Cold Mix $85.00

Motion by Blindauer, seconded by Ohlrogge, to accept both bids depending on the location of work being done. All ayes. Motion carried.

9:35 a.m. Gravel 

Darwin Ochsner, three-fourths of an inch $6.50, 1 inch $6.50;           

Michael Johnson Construction, three-fourths of an inch $6.45, 1 inch $6.45

Monte Kaus, three-fourths of an inch $6.25

Motion by Ohlrogge, seconded by P. Larson, to accept all bids depending on location of work being done. All ayes. Motion carried.

9:40 a.m. Gravel Crushing

Brownlee, three-fourths of an inch $3.44

T.F. Luke, three-fourths of an inch $3.75, 1 inch $3.25

Motion by P. Larson, seconded by S. Larson, to accept both depending on the type to be crushed. All ayes. Motion carried.

9:45 a.m. Overlay Patch

Asphalt Paving & Materials Co.  $111.50

Commercial Asphalt $85.00

Motion by S. Larson, seconded by Ohlrogge, to accept the low bid of Commercial Asphalt. All ayes. Motion carried.

9:50 a.m. Chip Sealing

Road Guy $18,800.00 per mile 

Topkote $19,119.84 per mile

Motion by Blindauer, seconded by S. Larson, to accept the low bid of The Road Guy. All ayes. Motion carried.

BUTLER EQUIPMENT

Matt Tobin of Butler Equipment met with the Board to discuss the purchase of a 2019 Caterpillar road grader in the amount of $339,721.00. The road grader will have a 108 month per 9,000 hour warranty. Motion by Blindauer, seconded by S. Larson, to purchase the road grader. All ayes. Motion carried.

ELEVATOR

Jim Puetz and Herm Harms of Puetz Construction met with the Board to discuss the possibility of installing an elevator in the courthouse. Puetz Construction will do some preliminary work on the possibilities and report back to the Board.

DOE

Penny Farris, Director of Equalization, reported on the guidelines set by the State for the assessment of properties.
