The Town ‘N Kountry Kids Red Crew 4-H Club met on Saturday, March 23, at the 4-H Building in Forestburg.
The meeting was called to order by President Xavier Baysinger. The Flag Pledge was led by Ty Burkel, and the 4-H Pledge was led by Avery Miller.
Roll call was led by Vice President Bailey Feistner with the topic, “What is Your Favorite Part of Spring?” which was answered by 10 members.
The secretary’s report was read by Hope Baysinger and approved as presented.
The treasurer’s report was presented by Treasurer Evan Ohlrogge and approved.
Emily Ohlrogge and Lane Burkel reported on Shooting Sports. Bailey gave an update on her activities as 4-H Ambassador. Avery talked about fruit sales.
For old business, the club discussed needing to find a date to visit the nursing home in Wessington Springs and maybe do a line dancing activity, plans to participate in the Soles4Souls Statewide Community Service Project (committee Tati Roberts, Lane Burkel and Avery Miller), and the barrel setting fundraiser on Memorial Day weekend.
Members were reminded about the Project Incentive Program. They need to get a 4-H project completed, take a picture and send it to their 4-H leader or to Sherryl at the 4-H office by April 29 to get entered in a drawing for movie tickets.
Plans for a building addition were discussed, which would provide more space for multiple activities including Shooting Sports and Achievement Days.

May 22 – Sanborn weigh in for all market animals at 5-6:30 p.m. (beef, goat, sheep, swine);
May 22 – YQCA Training in Forestburg at 7 p.m.;

May 31 and June 1 – Barn Quilts in Forestburg (see newsletter for details);
May 31 – deadline for enrollment in 4-H to exhibit;
June 1 – Deadline for Animal entry in 4-H Online;
June 3-7 – TLC (Teen Leadership Camp) at Brookings;
June 10-12 4-H Camp at Poinsett;
June 18 – Horse Show (Aurora/Jerauld/Sanborn) in Wessington Springs;
July 1 – Deadline for State Horse Show Entry;
July 9 – Fashion Revue Contest;
July 11 – Public Presentations Contest;
Aug. 8-10 – Achievement Days;
There are two upcoming meeting dates that the group will also be working on their leather projects: April 5 at 6:30 p.m. and April 13 at 9:30 a.m., both at the Woonsocket Community Center.
The group talked about planning to get a talk or demonstration done either at a club meeting or during the county contest. The goal is to have all of these done before State Fair.
Following the meeting, club members participated in a Consumer Decision Making judging activity, learning more about how to make purchasing decisions and preparing for the county CDM contest.
Avery Miller presented an illustrated talk on raising and training her dog, Bogi, a Miniature Schnauzer.
