Emilie Lindgren, daughter of Reid and Rachel Lindgren, and Bryce Hjelm, son of Joe and Casey Hjelm, all of Woonsocket qualified to compete at the National Pedal Tractor Pull after placing in the top three of their age brackets at the South Dakota State Pedal Tractor Pull held at the Corn Palace in Mitchell on Monday, Sept. 2, 2019.

To compete at the state level, each participant had to first qualify at a sanctioned local pedal tractor pull competition. Local competitions are held throughout the state at various city festivals and events during the year. Kids ages four to twelve are eligible to compete at these events. Lindgren qualified for the state pedal pull at a local event held at the South Dakota State Fair on Saturday, Aug. 31. Hjelm qualified to compete at the state pull at the local pedal tractor pull event held at Fish Days in Lake Andes during the first weekend in June.
